Following the massive success of the One Piece adaptation, Tomorrow Studios has announced it is developing a live-action series based on the cult-classic anime Samurai Champloo. In a critical move to ensure authenticity, original creator Shinichirō Watanabe is confirmed to be “hands-on” with the creative team. Producers Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements expressed that lessons learned from the short-lived Cowboy Bebop project led them to prioritize Watanabe’s involvement from the start. The series aims to preserve the iconic hip-hop-infused aesthetic and anachronistic Edo-period setting that made the 2004 anime a global phenomenon. While no streaming home has been officially locked, the studio reports high interest from major platforms following the rave reviews of One Piece Season 2.
